The pros and cons of the new MacBook Pro

Adam Levanthal, a software engineer, was curious about the new laptop during the event. "I'm really disappointed," said the engineer, who has not used a computer other than a Mac for 30 years after watching the entire program live. 

The New York Times reports that there is a controversy over the MacBook Pro as a new laptop. The model of the laptop is being partly blamed for this. This laptop has been used by professionals and coders since 2012. Now that Apple has made some changes, many who have been using Mac for a long time have become optimistic.

Previous versions of the MacBook Pro laptops have several types of connection ports, but the latest versions have only one type of port. As a result, users will need to purchase a separate adapter to connect other types of connector devices to this laptop.

The top row keys, including the Escape key, have been removed from the keyboard of this new laptop, and a virtual touch strip called 'Touch Bar' has been added. The virtual buttons on this touchbar will change depending on which app is being used. This has created opportunities for software developers to create custom shortcuts. This laptop is faster, lighter and thinner than previous versions. Battery life has been extended to 10 hours.

In these new versions, Apple has entered the era of a completely new generation USB port USB-C. This small, oval connection is expected to remove the thick and rectangular USB port used in many computing devices and accessories in the next few years.  

The US Daily sees the ESB-C port in MacBook as the biggest change to MacBook Pro laptops. The previous MacBooks included other ports, including the HDMI port, along with the ESB port to connect connecting devices such as printers and monitors. And now you have to use the USB-C port for charging, adding a separate screen and photo-card reader. The entry-level MacBook Pro model has two USB-C ports, and the improved version has four.

The power cable of Apple's iPhone has also been used in the ESB connector, in which case you have to buy a new adapter to connect the iPhone to the new MacBook Pro, and this has been described as 'annoying' in the report of the American daily.    

On the other hand, Brian Denslow, a technician at TechCollective, a San Francisco-based technology consultancy in the United States, said that moving to Apple's USB-C port in the long run would help set a standard in the sector. The goal in this case is to bring USB-C connectors to all the other devices required with the laptop, so that there will be no need to buy additional adapters at a time. "Finally, we are going to break the bond with the past and set a new standard, he said.

Now let's talk about Touch Bar. Although this feature has given a new lease of life, it has not been found to be very helpful in streamlining work, the daily reports. Streamlining refers to tasks that can be improved by simplifying techniques or methods. In this case, the thumbnails of the photos in the library are shown while using the Photos app. The user can select the image by tapping on the photo they want to edit. When using the Safari browser, a different browser tab can be selected using the touch bar. But using the keyboard shortcut (Command + 1 for the first tab) can make it more 'faster'.

The Escape key on the keyboard has also been removed and replaced with a virtual button on the touch bar. But what was important to the coders was the physical escape and Levanthal said that not being able to press it while coding was unacceptable. Even after using the touch bar, it doesn't seem to be 'missing' anything when using a normal keyboard other than the touch bar, the daily said.

Many users of Apple products have reportedly commented on the new MacBook Pro laptops' memory limitations and disappointing performance. The new models use 16 GB of RAM just like the previous MacBook Pro versions. Processor speeds have been kept almost the same as previous professional notebooks. However, in some cases newer notebooks are faster than older models. Tests with the Geekbench 4 app show that the processor of the new 15-inch MacBook Pro is 10 to 16 percent faster than the same size model that came out in 2012. The new MacBook Pro is twice as fast as the graphics card, which is important for computing tasks. Storage devices faster than before.

There are different opinions among professional Mac users about buying a MacBook Pro when it comes to giving advice to everyone. However, for users who use web browsing and general apps, it would be more expensive to buy a MacBook. Where a Dell Chromebook i3 costs 430, a MacBook Air costs thousands of dollars. And it's Apple's cheapest notebook, but it's slower and lower resolution than the Chromebook. And if you buy new models, you will have to spend extra money to buy extra storage and adapters.

The new MacBook Pro will probably be a powerful enough computer for most professionals. According to Apple, the demand for the MacBook Pro is higher than the previous professional notebooks as an early order.
